In addition to those listed below, we coordinate events in our role as Secretariat of the New Zealand Parliamentarians' Group on Population and Development.

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence is an international campaign originating from the first Women's Global Leadership Institute held in 1991. Participants chose the dates 25 November (International Day Against Violence Against Women) and 10 December (International Human Rights Day) in order to symbolically link violence against women and human rights.
1 December is World AIDS Day, an international day of coordinated action on HIV and AIDS. The day emerged from a call by the World Summit of Ministers of Health on Programmes for AIDS Prevention in January 1988 to strengthen communication and understanding on HIV and AIDS. Family Planning International works with a group of New Zealand organisations to mark World AIDS Day.
On 10 December, Family Planning International joined other civil society organisations and members of the public in Wellington, New Zealand, to mark International Human Rights Day. We had a busy information stall highlighting sexual and reproductive health and rights in the Pacific and the work we do.

11 July is World Population Day, a day marked annually around the world to raise awareness and action on population issues. The 2008 World Population Day reaffirmed the right of people to plan their families.
