Family Planning International is an advocacy, projects and research unit. Our approach is that action needs to happen both at the policy and funding level, as well as within communities.
Advocacy
To us, advocacy means working to create both healthy public policy and environments that support sexual and reproductive well-being for all.
Our advocacy work involves raising awareness and supporting action on international population and development issues, particularly sexual and reproductive health. We do this work here in New Zealand, across our region - the Pacific, and globally. Find out more about our advocacy work here.
Projects
Family Planning International's approach to implementing projects is that we prefer to work alongside colleagues and organisations working for their communities.
Our projects aim to advance the sexual and reproductive well-being of people in Pacific countries. More information on our projects can be found here.
Research
To undertake quality advocacy and project activities, evidence-based information is essential. That is why Family Planning International has recently included a research component to our work.
Research findings contribute to the development of our project work, strengthen our advocacy activities, and as a result our work becomes more targeted and effective. Find out more about our research work here.
Through our work, we are working towards the following outcomes:
- Strengthened capacity of stakeholders to take up leadership in the advocacy and policy process;
- Increased and improved resource allocation for sexual and reproductive health activities;
- Policies, funding and programs informed by quality research;
- Expanded, strengthened networks with capacity to address sexual and reproductive health and rights needs.
